The Marketplace
Spend your Tocium on fuel, train upgrades, and more

If only buying gas for my real-life car could be this easy...
Clicking on this button will open the Marketplace window. It should automatically open to the Fuel tab, which looks like the picture below.

Fuel? I remember when they first invented fuel. Sweet, sweet fuel... I always hated it.
From this page, you'll be able to exchange Tocium for coal or diesel fuel for your trains. For a detailed explanation on how to purchase fuel, click here.
Keep in mind that as of Train of the Century V1.0, the only Locomotive that uses coal is the Mastodon.
Clicking on the "UPGRADES" tab in the top right corner of the window will open a page that looks like this:

My train can haul a total of eight rail cars? Why, that's one whole rail car more than seven!
You'll notice a stack of buttons on the left side of the screen. Clicking on them will flip through the pages of different upgrades you can buy at the Marketplace. Let's go through them one-by-one.
This is the page of upgrades that is opened by default. You can see it in the image above.
To purchase an additional Rail Car slot for your train, simply click on a grayed-out slot and hit "Accept" in the pop-up window. Ta-da! You've got a brand-new slot on your train that you can fill with any Rail Car or Passenger Car.
Clicking on "COMPOSITIONS" will bring you to a page that looks like this:

Luckily, you don't need to have a high enchanting stat to perform these upgrades! Now, alchemy on the other hand...
Here, you can upgrade the composition of any of your Locomotive cards that aren't already at the Tungsten level. This process will burn your Locomotive NFT, but you'll receive an upgraded version in exchange for your Tocium. To preview the upgrade your Locomotive will receive, select it from the stack of cards at the bottom of the window.

Plus five distance and hauling power for 1,000 Tocium? What a steal!
If you're satisfied with the upgrade, click the "Upgrade to ___" button in the bottom right of the window.
Locomotive composition upgrades follow this pattern:
- Iron > Steel
- Steel > Carbon Weave
- Carbon Weave > Tungsten
If your Locomotive just isn't performing as well as you'd like it to, consider buying a composition upgrade or two!
This feature is still in development, but will enable time travel for the Modern Century Conductors.
Click Unlock Trains to purchase a second train to manage. Note that you must have at least 4 Rail Car slots unlocked on all the trains you currently own before you can purchase another.

TWO trains? That's one whole train more than just one!
The price model for unlocking additional trains is as follows:
Additional Train Number | Tocium Price |
---|---|
1 | 5,000 |
2 | 30,000 |
3 | 60,000 |
4 | 100,000 |
5 | 150,000 |
6 | 210,000 |
7 | 280,000 |
8 | 360,000 |
9 | 450,000 |
10+ | 500,000 |
Clicking on the "PARTS" tab at the top of the window will allow you to do business with our friend Oil Zone Otto.

What a handsome guy, you know? I feel like he might smell bad though...
For this page to populate with Century Train Parts (CTPs), you'll have to meet Otto in one of his NPC Encounters. If you can't afford to or choose not to buy the CTP he offers you, it'll show up here, in the Marketplace.
Oh, look! This picture has some extra information built right into it. Go ahead and click on it to get a better look.
CTPs are rare, powerful artifacts that come from parallel realities. If you collect all 18 of them, you can forge them into a Century Train! Or, you can fuse individual parts to one of your other trains to give them a permanent stat boost. The choice is yours!
For a detailed explanation of Century Trains and their benefits, click here. Or, if you'd like to see the full list of CTPs, click here.
Do you have spare resources and need extra Tocium? Head on over the the Railroader Emporium! On this page of the Marketplace, you'll be able to sell your fungible assets like AMP and CTPs to other Railroaders. And that means you can also spend Tocium to purchase items from your fellow Railroader.
