Her devotion to educating springs from her experiences in academia. While studying for her education degree at Centuryville University, Shakia discovered the majority of her colleagues refused to take jobs in the impoverished James Park region. After rejecting several prestigious job offers from schools in Pemberton Heights, she vowed to only ever teach in James Park.
